Founded in 1991, come join us in 2027 for our 37th annual quilt retreat at Mallo Camp in northeastern Wyoming!

Located at Mallo Camp north of Newcastle, Wyoming, this retreat features a location and amenities second to none.

7 Courses over 4 Days in 2026

We offered a variety of classes to appeal to everyone from beginners to experts.  We offered seven classes over four days.  On Monday evening we had a class to make a scrap box.  On Tuesday and Wednesday evening, we had the ever-favorite show-n-tell, for instructors and participants. UFO space is always available for anyone who just wants to complete projects.

Come join us in our 37th year of quilting together.  Take time to do something for yourself!  Have you ever dreamed of taking three days off from the distractions of work and housekeeping to go to a beautiful, secluded place and just quilt?  If this is your dream, then the Black Hills Quilting Retreat is for you!

This annual event is held at Mallo Camp, located on the Wyoming side of the beautiful Black Hills just off U.S. Highway 85 between Newcastle and Sundance, Wyoming.  It is situated in a quiet valley beside a gurgling creek, amidst towering pines.

We will be offering a variety of classes to appeal to everyone from beginners to experts.  On Monday night we offer a short class or activity, just for fun!  On Tuesday and Wednesday evening, we will have the ever-favorite show-n-tell, for instructors and participants. UFO space is always available for anyone who just wants to complete projects.

1. Scrap Box

Learn to make a fabric box (basket) using two pieces of fabric and a piece of lightweight batting. I usually use two pieces of a layer cake, but any piece 10” or 12” will make a cute little box.
