This fun bag is made to carry lots of stuff with a big, over-the-shoulder design and some handy inside pockets. It’s easy to make and distinctive when using that favorite fabric you’ve been saving.
While making this functional bag we will practice topstitching and “stitching in the ditch”. We will use four different types of stabilizers (by Annie’s Soft n Stable; and Pellon Shape-Flex, Fusible Thermolam, and Pel-Tex) and learn how to work with each of them. We will master snap-in-place grommets, and learn to sew with cork fabric (if you choose). There is no hand stitching involved in this one.
The outside panel is quilted. This can be simply done with straight lines on a domestic machine; with a complicated pattern on a long arm; or anywhere in between. If you come prepared with the outside panel quilted and some basic cutting done, you will come close to finishing the bag in class.
